(Translated from Spanish) "Believe me when
I tell you that Urusen refresh the musical scene like few
others. Based primarily on two acoustic guitars that do an
excellent job. When you listen to the album you feel the urge
to play the guitar and if you don’t play the guitar,
it will make you want to sing these catchy tracks.
Urusen is a project of Peter Beatty and Ben Please accompanied
by Jon Wordsworth. If we had listened to this album in 2003
it would have been a strong candidate for the best album of
2003.
The album begins with surprising sounds from the acoustic
guitars. These sounds then develop into the delightful and
short “Magic Mr. Meaner” and continue with the
harmonica sound of “The Man with the Square Halo”
(pay close attention to the lyrics as many of them are very
interesting).
The album continues with the ballad “Believed”,
a song that many songwriters would have been proud of...again
we hear the interludes from the acoustic guitars which are
not simple and are accompanied with outstanding vocals.
The next track “Pillows” is written with a lot
of care and attention and is a folk-country-pop song which
sounds familiar but is “new” because of the sounds
and acoustics.
